Solar Car Challenge

The Solar Car Challenge is an education program designed to hlep motivate students in science, engineering and alternative energy. The program teaches high school students how to plan, design, engineer, build, race and evaluate roadworthy solar cars.

 

Learn 2 Live Green welcomes participants of the Solar Car Challenge.  L2LG offers teams an opportunity to complete a time-trial race in advance of their annual week-long challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. Participating teams begin their time-trial run at 9 am at Classic BMW in Plano and complete the race at L2LG.

 

Top teams will display their cars during the event, and students will answer questions and discuss their vehicles with the crowd.  Solar cars may not be mainstream yet, but check out how innovative students work toward maximiazing their intelligence and mechanical know-how to reach the Solar Car Challenge goal.

 

Science & Technology Magazine name the Solar Car Challenge as one of the top science and engineering programs in the country. In anticpation of upcoming solar challenge events, there are 85 on-going high school soar car projects located in 23 states which are in the process of engineering roadworthy solar cars. Learn more and see the L2LG route at solarcarchallenge.org.

Art Swap
Spend time browing, touching and creating unique eco-art projects and gifts.  Bring in art and craft materials you've been saving but have not used. Donate or swap them for something else you need for that special project. Your stash could be someone else's masterpiece in the making! Enjoy open access to any supplies in the swap area to create one-of-a-kind art.
The Incredible Bubble Show
Linda Berman knows how to entertain, educate, inspire and motivate using soap and water and an incredible variety of household objects to create mind-boggling bubbles! Her Incredible Bubble Zone will be set up all day for kids from 1 to 101 to try their hand in making bubbles.
BMX Stunt Riders
Blackland Prairie Raptor Center - Raptors from the Sky
Day and night the raptors are on patrol. Their mission is to search for a meal. How do they do it? Discover their unique adaptations for hunting in woodlands, wetlands and prairies. Two raptors, one diurnal and one noturnal, will be used to demonstrate their capabilities.
Critterman
Discover the incredibly valuable services native animals perform as natural pest controllers and waste removers. Learn about the way these animals are adapted for their habitat and why those adaptations are important. You'll see, learn and interact with different creatures you may know nothing about.
The Recycling Experience

 

Children of all ages love a chance to sit in the driver's seat of a real recycling truck and see how it operates. Visit the Recycling Experience and be the first in your neighborhood to operate the new two-armed recycling truck. Don't miss the excitement!
